The Pittsburgh Zine Fair is back for it’s second year and is hosting a greater number of regional zine-makers and artists with featured appearances from the Carnegie Library Zine Collection, Just Seeds, Cyberpunk Apocalypse, Assemble, and The Roboto Zine Library.  The event takes place on September 22nd 11am-7pm at Carnegie Mellon’s Wiegand Gym in the University Center.  It is a Free Event open to the public!

The Zine Fair offers workshops, activities and discussions for all ages.  Come and learn about the world’s largest comic and cartoon collection from visiting curator Caitlin McGurk.  Discover more about Pittsburgh resources by attending a session curated by the Cyberpunk Apocalypse about the business of Zines and Zine artists for whom Zines were means to an end.  Make prints with A.I.R. and finish your creation at Assemble’s Zine Exploration activity which encourages visitors to try their hand at making their own book. Attend a bookbinding demonstration with Stephanie Tsong. Stop by in the evening for a reading and discussion with Jude Vachon from the CLP Main Zine Collection.  Lastly we offer a cross interview with Jim Rugg, Jason Lex and Caitlin McGurk.

Overall, the Zine Fair strives to encourage personal expression and the sharing of knowledge by generating an environment where independent artists and writers can engage with the Pittsburgh community and foster an atmosphere of creativity that will inspire the community to create.

Details about the Pittsburgh Zine Fair can be found online at www.pghzinefair.com , like us at PghZineFair on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  This project is supported in part by a Seed Award from the Sprout Fund.  The Pittsburgh Zine Fair Organizers would also like to thank Roboto, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Cyberpunk Apocalypse, Assemble, CFL Printers,  all exhibitors, volunteers, artists, the CMU Mortar Board Society and most of all the community of Pittsburgh. To support the continuation of the Zine Fair annually, find our project page on Kickstarter to make a donation.
