We’re throwing a benefit show for the Zine Fair on August 24th at the Mr. Roboto Project. There will be live music from Dewey Marquee & Andre Costello as well as live readings from Daniel McCloskey, Artnoose, Max Wheeler and Paul Scott. We’ll also have some zine fair merch for sale in addition to zines/comics and original art. All proceeds from the evening go towards the continuation of the Pittsburgh Zine Fair annually. It’s $5 to get in the door and it’s for a great cause!
The Pittsburgh Zine Fair would also like to thank the Sprout Fund for their shared support in ensuring the success of this year’s event. Without them this may not be happening. Here’s a little bit about Sprout for those who don’t know:
The Sprout Fund enriches the Pittsburgh region’s vitality by engaging citizens, amplifying voices, supporting creativity and innovation, and cultivating connected communities. Founded in 2001, Sprout facilitates community-led solutions to regional challenges and supports efforts to create a thriving, progressive, and culturally diverse region. With strong working relationships to many community organizations and regional stakeholders, The Sprout Fund is one of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s leading agencies on issues related to civic engagement, talent attraction and retention, public art, and catalytic small-scale funding.
In addition we’d also like to thank the following organizations/individuals for the continued support of the Zine Fair, I’m sure this list will grow significantly over the next month:
The Mr. Roboto Project
Carnegie Libraries of Pittsburgh (Zine Department, Jude Vachon)
Cyberpunk Apocalypse Writers and Comics Collective
Carnegie Mellon University
